Spring Campaign for Cancer Research

We are committed to supporting Cancer Research at Weston Park Hospital and the Cancer Research Centre. Each spring we focus our fundraising specifically on this area of our work. You are welcome to join our events or organise your own.

Men’s Cancer Campaign

Here at Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity we have run our ‘Think Pink’ campaign in October for many years, reflecting the national pattern of ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Month’

It seemed to us though, that men should get equal attention and so we have designated June/July as the time we will focus on men’s cancers- particularly as research has shown recently that men know more about womens breast cancer than they know about cancers which affect men!

So what are we talking about?

Prostate Cancer

The most commonly diagnosed cancer in men, prostate cancer kills 10,000 men every year. It is recognised though, that men more often die WITH prostate cancer than dying FROM prostate cancer.

Testicular Cancer

The younger man’s cancer, most common in men between the ages of 15 and 44. The good news is that caught early enough testicular cancer is 99% curable.

The message is as with all cancers, be aware of your body, check yourself if you think there is anything wrong go and see your GP.

We’d like to invite you to support our Men’s Cancer Campaign by joining in one of our fabulous events (see our events section on the website), or by organising your own fundraising. Every year we put around £1m into Weston Park Hospital, and it is people like you who make that possible, we are very grateful to you.
