Collection BoxesDID YOU KNOW...
A record £32,000! Thanks to you!
Thank you and congratulations to all of you who display a collection box on a pub bar or shop counter or anywhere else. You have helped us raise a record £32,000 and really helped make a difference.
Each box is important to us and as you can see – really does count. Every penny someone puts in one of those boxes can help Weston Park Hospital bring hope to families whose lives are turned upside down by cancer.
Patient Joseph Molloy from Doncaster (pictured front) knows exactly how those donations count. He is one of many patients benefiting from the care and attention of being on a clinical trial in our Cancer Research Centre. With your help we provide over £250,000 a year for the Cancer Research Centre plus funding for individual research projects. Thank you so much!
Could your shop, pub, club or company offer its support by providing a home for one of our collection boxes? One of our willing volunteers will gladly deliver the box to your premises and then collect it again at your convenience. Please contact us today on 0114 226 5370 if you would like to help.
Volunteer Drivers
David Booth
David Booth gives a day of his week to help patients at Weston Park Hospital. Another long term volunteer, David dedicates half his day to looking after visitors to our Cancer Support Centre and the other half to delivering and gathering our collection boxes as a volunteer driver. We thank him for all that he does.
Dave Higgins
Dave Higgins is Mr Wednesday in our calendar of volunteer drivers who buzz around the region collecting and delivering our collection boxes.

Michael Gaughan
Michael Gaughan is a lynch pin in our collection box operation.
Every Tuesday morning come rain or shine Michael cleans and prepares our blue collection boxes before they grace the counter tops across South Yorkshire and the North Midlands. He’s been doing this for over 5 years now – so that’s thousands of collection boxes that he’s prepared. Always cheerful, Michael is also one of our stalwart drivers who you’ll no doubt meet if you display a collection box on our behalf.
Geoff Humphreys
Geoff Humphreys popped into Weston Park Hospital six years ago to pick up a prescription for a relative and has been volunteering ever since. He started as a volunteer driver and now is the ‘brains’ behind our collection box scheme, co-ordinating the picking up and delivery of our charity tins to shop and pub counters around the region. As a recent past President of the Rotary Club of Hallam he organised a concert that raised £13,000 for the charity.
