One of the countries leading cancer charities has received a generous ‘top draw’ donation from Sheffield United Football Club.

The Blades manager Kevin Blackwell presented Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, one of the clubs chosen charities of the year, with a cheque for £7,780 donated from the club’s popular Super Draw Lottery.

For just £1 a week Super Draw participants have the opportunity to share in an annual prize fund of £250,000 which includes a chance to win the £2,000 each week or a quarterly prize of £5,000.

Cat Newman, senior fundraiser at Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, said: “We are thrilled to receive this fantastic donation, which will go towards continuing the wonderful care and support the charity provides to Weston Park Hospital.

“We are also honoured to be chosen as one of Sheffield United’s charities of the year and hope to be involved with the club for future projects, so we can work together to help in the fight against cancer.”

The Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity provides the hospital, the Cancer Information and Support Centre and the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Research Centre with vital funding to help pay for world class research treatment and care for people living with cancer.

Mick Rooker, Promotions Manager at Sheffield United, said: “We are delighted to have helped donate funds to Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, a worthwhile cause that makes an incredible difference to the lives of many people in Sheffield and the surrounding area.”
